Thank you for another study of Constable and his art. I was fascinated by your reference to ‘a ghostly figure behind the cenotaph’. Is it my imagination or are there two - one behind the tree on the right, almost an animal, and one by the tree centre left perhaps holding a palette or a mask. Could the latter be a representation of Constable himself?
